Some hams are attracted by the ability to communicate across the country
around the glob, or even in space. Some like to build and experiment
with electronics and all kinds of radios. Others like portable
communication, or the ability to have communication no meter what
tomorrow brings. (When all communication fails, ham works).

Is a local Ham club that I am a member of in Queens N.Y. I have not meat
all the members yet but the few that I became acquainted with are very

VK2IR Tommy, and KA2KDZ John are true Ham operators and have been for
years. Some of the kindest people I have meat in the Ham world, other than
the fact that they are fun to hangout with It's very educational talking to
them. VK2IR came from Australia some time in May of 2008 just to go to the Dayton
Ham fest.

I was playing with my new HT-F6A testing it and
configuring some of the settings when I just happened to speak to this
very nice person (W2FLA) on the 2m. I told him that I was a new Ham
testing a radio. He replied welcome to the hobby George, and was very
patient and helpful providing me with his website among other technical
repeater and frequency information!
